Banish Draughts & Welcome Warmth
Draught-proofing can improve performance
while retaining the traditional charm
Draught-proofing sash windows is one of the most common enquiries we receive. With regular winter storms battering our homes with 50+ mph winds those of us living in period properties start to wonder if our rattling timber sash windows are going to survive.
How do we exclude draughts from your home?
Sash Windows Have A 3mm Air Gap Around The Sashes To Allow The Sashes To Slide Past Each Other And Operate Smoothly.
It is this air gap that causes the inherent problems associated with sash windows, such as draughts, rattles, dust ingress and reduced energy efficiency. By installing the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) we can draught proof your sash windows and eliminate these problems without affecting operation or how they look.
Our high performance Weatherfin Pile becomes an integral part of your window, installed in our unique parting bead between the sashes, in the new staff beads around the window and installed directly into the mid and bottom rail of your sash windows, effectively draught proofing the whole sash window perimeter.
Tested to British Standards BS 6375:1-2009, equivalent to 71 mph winds
Originally created by our founder Robert Tunnicliffe using his experience designing gaskets and seals for Ford Motors, the Ventrolla draught-proofing system or Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) as it’s known in-house, is the perfect solution for banishing common issues associated with the 3mm gap around sash and casement windows.
Ventrolla began 35 years ago with the development of our first sash window draught excluder solution which formed an effective seal around the window without distracting from its appearance and operation. Three decades later that original timber window seal has evolved into a precision manufactured system that we’ve installed into thousands of homes across the country.
Our sash window draught excluder system not only eliminates draughts but has the added benefits of banishing rattles, stopping water and dust ingress, helping to reduce outside noise penetrating your home and of course keeping the warm air in and the cold air out reducing your energy bills.
Our expert installers will rout out slim channels in both the box and sash frame before installing the Weatherfin sealing system with the correct length of pile for your windows. The draught-proofing usually goes hand in hand with our sash window repair service and combined will give your timbers windows a new lease of life and allow you to enjoy a warm, comfortable home.
