Sash windows are a traditional feature of many period properties, and their style and design can add to the character and charm of the house. They also offer practical benefits, such as good ventilation and easy access for cleaning.
If your property is a period or heritage home, then having sash windows that are in keeping with the style and age of the property can be an important feature that can add value. The quality of the sash windows themselves will also be a factor. igh-quality, energy-efficient sash windows can enhance the value of the property, especially in areas with high energy prices.
Double glazing sash windows can offer many benefits, such as improving energy efficiency, reducing outside noise, and enhancing the security of your home. Yes, sash windows can be repaired in most cases. Sash window restoration can be a cost-effective solution, especially if the window has historic or architectural value, or if it’s in good condition overall but needs minor repairs.
Some common repairs for sash windows include replacing broken or damaged glass panes, repairing or replacing sash cords, repairing or replacing the sash hardware, repairing or replacing the sash frame, and weatherstripping or draft-proofing.
Depending on the extent of the damage or wear, it may be more cost-effective to repair a sash window rather than replace it entirely. However, if the window is in poor condition or the damage is extensive, replacement may be the better option.
