ESG
At Ventrolla, we envision a future where heritage preservation and sustainable practices coexist in perfect harmony – and we’re already making it a reality.
By combining traditional craftsmanship with leading innovations like our VPSS and SRS systems, our specialist joiners balance sympathetic conservation with advanced sustainability. This way, we protect and subtly transform the UK’s most beautiful buildings with precision, fastidiousness, and expertise.
Our Commitments
We’re determined to lead the industry in eco-friendly heritage window restoration.
Here’s what we’re doing for our people, planet, and local communities:
Breathing new life into old windows
By prioritising restoration and renovation over replacement, we’ve restored over 1 million windows, preserving their character while minimising waste, raw material and plastic consumption. Our restoration work saves 400 tonnes of carbon annually.
Sustainably sourcing premium timber
We source our timber exclusively from responsibly sourced suppliers, protecting forest ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and supporting local communities. Our premium quality timber reduces waste by outlasting inferior alternatives.
Enhancing energy efficiency with VPSS
Our advanced VPSS draught-proofing technology enhances Window Energy Ratings by up to 30%, helping to reduce energy bills.
Integrating more renewable energy
We power our joinery houses with LED lighting and timers and continually seek innovative ways to use more renewable energy.
Managing waste responsibly
We invest in high-quality, durable tools and machinery to minimize hazardous and electrical waste. When these items do reach the end of their lifecycle, we ensure they are disposed of safely and responsibly.
Investing in a fuel-efficient fleet
We’ve cut our fuel consumption by 36% over three years and always choose the most efficient routes.
Conserving local flora and fauna
Whether working on-site or in our joinery houses, we work hard to conserve our local biodiversity.
Social responsibility
Upskilling 1,000 people on our CPD courses
We inspire architects, builders, conservation officers, and planners with the latest techniques and insights in energy-efficient, heritage window restoration.
Providing career growth opportunities
We offer ongoing training and development opportunities to help individuals grow their skills and advance their careers. This way, we attract and retain the very best talent.
Inspiring young people to enter our industry
Partnering with West Suffolk College, we offer 40 heritage joinery apprentices invaluable industry experience and insights.
Creating a healthy work environment
We encourage people to bring their true selves to work, promoting diversity and inclusion to build a committed and skilled workforce of all ages and genders.
Giving back to the local community
We sponsor grassroots football teams and support local fundraising initiatives, whether through volunteer efforts, donations, or raising awareness for important courses.
Governance and integrity
Working closely with planning authorities and conservation officers
We ensure our craftmanship adheres to the highest standards of authenticity and compliance.
Partnering with the British Woodworking Federation (BWF)
We adhere to and help shape best practices in the industry, promoting a more responsible and eco-conscious woodworking sector.
Ensuring our suppliers follow strict practices
By regularly monitoring our suppliers’ ethical and environmental policies and certificates, we support forest conservation and promote the use of renewable resources.
Collaborating with key stakeholders
We drive sustainability initiatives through partnerships with customers, suppliers, and the community, including our sponsorship of The Building Centre’s Retrofit exhibition on sustainable building and energy efficiency to meet the UK’s Net Zero targets.
Documenting our carbon footprint
We’re transparent about our carbon footprint and conduct regular self-assessments to ensure we’re continuously reducing our environmental impact.
