Boutique Kensington Hotel has sash windows restored by Ventrolla

Ventrolla checked in with a stylish boutique hotel in South Kensington to assist with a major restoration project. The company was appointed by The Kensington Hotel to restore the period wooden sash windows on the building’s front elevation.
Where possible, Ventrolla renovated the existing window materials and replaced any which were too badly damaged, closely matching the original woodwork.
The Ventrolla team then fitted new ironmongery and restrictors to the sash windows on the upper floors, which limit their opening for safety purposes.
The final stage of the renovation process was to install Ventrolla’s unique Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) in the gap surrounding the window sashes, which improves performance and eliminates draughts and rattles. A spokesperson for Ventrolla, said:
“We have built up a long and successful relationship with the hotel as they see the quality of our workmanship and recognise the benefits of a properly draught proofed sash window. We installed our first window at the hotel nine years ago and keep returning to tackle more. The latest count is 317 sash windows, which is clearly a substantial piece of business and a project we are extremely proud of.”
The Kensington Hotel is situated in a beautiful townhouse just off Old Brompton Road. It offers 150 elegant rooms and 20 luxurious suites, plus a spa and the Aubrey Restaurant and cocktail bar.
It has recently undergone a £20 million restoration designed to create a sense of townhouse living in Regency-style London, which was overseen by contractor ISG Cathedral of Huntingdon, in Cambridgeshire.
The Kensington Hotel is part of The Doyle Collection, which includes 11 hotels in six major international cities.
