Ventrolla Midlands was appointed to repair and refurbish two sash windows and replace a further three on the front elevation of the 19th century house. The work was undertaken using the historic print, which was donated by neighbours, as a point of reference.

In order to replicate the character of the house, Ventrolla copied the moulding profile of the original ground floor sashes to help prepare the new ones for the first floor. Once the sashes were restored, the windows were then fitted with reclaimed period glass. Homeowners Colin and Ruth Turner said:

We bought the house as a family home knowing that particular aspects would require considerable renovation over time. However, due to incredibly high noise levels coming from the nearby road, we decided the windows were the first thing that needed tackling.

“Originally we were going to replace all the windows with double glazing until the local Conservation Officer advised us that, although the building was not listed, we should consider refurbishment due to it being a prime example of period architecture.

After evaluating window and glazing solutions from a variety of companies we decided to appoint Ventrolla for its experience and knowledge in window renovation.

“We are overjoyed with the end result as the front of the house now exactly resembles its original appearance. Furthermore, all windows open easily, draughts have been excluded and the traffic noise from the road is virtually eliminated.

Ventrolla offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows as well as timber doors. Its unique Perimeter Sealing System significantly improves the window’s performance and energy efficiency.

With its national headquarters in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Ventrolla operates via a network of regional offices throughout the UK and Ireland.
