The beautiful sash windows of a conservation area residence in Skipton, north Yorkshire, have been treated to Ventrolla’s new double-glazing renovation solution.

The property, which dates back to the 1880s, is the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brassington who became concerned with their old sash windows after experiencing troublesome draughts and rattles sweeping through their home.

After a window-by-window inspection twelve of the sash windows were recommended for renovation by the specialists.

Six of these received a double-glazing solution, which involved replacing the sashes with bespoke slim glazing units; hand crafted using traditional methods of carpentry in the Ventrolla workshop to retain period features.

Furthermore, they are specifically designed to carry the extra weight whilst ensuring the window stays functional. The remaining six windows were renovated with single panes.

To ensure both the double and single glazed windows were energy efficient, the unique Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) was installed – a process that upgrades the windows performance helping to reduce heat loss, external noise and eradicate troublesome draughts and rattles. Mr. Brassington said:

“The original windows were in working order, but it could get very cold, especially during the winter. We had decided that renovation work needed to take place to improve comfort and save energy.”

“As an architect myself, I decided to call in Ventrolla’s help because I was impressed with the new services they could offer. It is a lot warmer and I am very pleased with the work that they did. I don’t get a cold shoulder while sitting by my desk anymore. It has been well worth it, and you certainly get what you pay for.”

Ventrolla offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows as well as timber doors. The company has its central office in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with additional locations throughout the UK and Ireland.
