Chris Blaydes, Proprietor and Head Chef for Jerichos, instructed the sash window experts to renovate the existing timber framed windows in the period property.

Chris has owned and run the restaurant with his partner Jo for 13 years. In addition to their highly successful restaurant, the couple have recently converted the ten-bedroomed property into an exclusive bed and breakfast.

The building dates back to 1870 and is in a conservation area. Ventrolla were called in to carry out renovations to the windows following a recommendation from a friend.

Chris said: “Although the sash windows were in good condition, the gap around the frame caused draughts and rattles. It is not acceptable to have guests staying in rooms with noisy windows.”

After fully restoring the timber frames, Ventrolla installed its award-winning Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) into the gap surrounding the window sashes, to eradicate rattles and also reduce draughts, noise and dirt ingress. He added:

“I am very happy with the completed work. The windows no longer rattle and I can’t wait to see the difference the newly sealed windows have made in reducing heat loss when the winter comes.”

“The work was carried out while guests were staying in the bed and breakfast, but Ventrolla completed the restoration project with limited disruption.”

Chris, formerly Head Chef at Miller Howe for celebrated chef John Tovey, has enjoyed a successful culinary career, working with the likes of Delia Smith in nationwide cookery demonstrations.

Ventrolla’s central office is based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with offices throughout the UK and Ireland, and offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows.
