A Georgian guest house dating back to the 1800s has been transformed into a modern eco-hotel following a four-week restoration project.

The Best Western Annesley House Hotel in Norwich sits just a stroll away from the historic city centre. The hotel is located in a tree-lined conservation area just outside Norwich’s ancient city walls, with plenty to do nearby. The hotel itself is made up of three Grade II listed Georgian buildings and two coach houses originally built in 1832.

The Annesley House Hotel in Norwich has had over 20 original windows renovated by Ventrolla.

A pair of French doors, opening out onto the hotel’s award-winning gardens, were also refurbished as part of the restoration and are in keeping with the hotel’s new green policy. David Reynolds, the owner of Annesley House, appointed Ventrolla to help restore the building and improve its sound insulation and draught-proofing. David said:

“This work has been a long time coming and having introduced a green policy, the renovation of the windows is another step towards developing our environmentally friendly approach to running the hotel.”

“We have previously worked with Ventrolla and were really pleased with the results, so it was an easy decision to appoint them again.”

“This was definitely a bigger project but, like before, the work was carried out efficiently and to a high standard which allowed me to keep the hotel open for the duration of the project.”

The renovation process involved installing Ventrolla’s unique Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) in the gap surrounding the window sashes, which improves performance and eliminates draughts. It also makes the windows much more energy efficient.

Annesley House is located in a conservation area, close to the Norfolk Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland and third largest inland waterway with the status of a National Park.

David and his wife Jill have been running the hotel for over 25 years after buying it as their first joint venture back in September 1985. The renovation works also included a makeover of the interiors, with new pictures and lighting in the guest rooms and corridors. Ventrolla offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows as well as timber doors.

The company’s central office is in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with regional Ventrolla offices located throughout the UK.
