Slim Double Glazing

In the last few years we have seen a number of glazing products aimed at providing a solution for historic buildings and properties within conservation areas.

There are a number of slim double glazed units on the market and some companies are installing these into existing sashes by routing into the original window.

We have undertaken a trial of the various products available and, whilst they provide a potential solution, they all have their limitations.

The key issue to consider before allowing someone to alter your original window is “Can it cope with the strain of carrying twice the weight it was designed to?”.

Based on the results of our trials, and to ensure our customers receive a solution fit for purpose that we and they are happy with (now and in the future), we would not advocate modifying existing sashes.
