There are numerous benefits of the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System the key ones are detailed below:
Typically a sliding sash window has gaps of 3mm around the sashes to make it work. In an average sized window these gaps are equivalent to a hole nearly six inches square. This can cause:
- Excessive air changes in the room, resulting in inefficient use of energy.
- Difficulty in maintaining comfortable room temperature.
The Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System eliminates gaps so room temperature is controlled as air change is reduced to less than once per hour.
Noise is very subjective and any reduction will depend upon numerous factors and whilst the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System can provide a positive impact on noise reduction, this should be viewed as an added benefit rather than as a solution to a particular noise control problem.
However, by eliminating the 3mm air gap that is necessary for operation of a traditional sash window the impact Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System can provide on airborne noise is obvious.
Usually this is not necessary, as timber sash windows are often perceived to be in a much worse condition than they actually are.
We find that often 95% of the timber in an original window can be retained. Replacement is only suggested in the rare cases where it is considered the more economic alternative.
Where wood needs repair we can apply our unique two-part epoxy resin wood repair system, which completely bonds with the parent wood and restores the original strength to sash tenon joints.
This can also fill in large cavities in cills, and act as a powerful adhesive.
This very much depends on the width of the rebate of the sashes. In many cases the rebate is not wide enough in a period window to accept the enlarged width of a double glazed unit. There is also the issue of extra weight to the window meaning more lead weight has to be added to balance the window and in some cases there is not enough room in the box sections of the sash windows to accommodate this.
All this aside Ventrolla can install double glazed units however it is worth noting that the need for double glazing is greatly reduced with the use of Ventrolla’s Perimeter Sealing System. This unique draught proofing system seals the gaps found between the sashes and around the frames, where almost all of the noise and cold air come through the window.

The perception that plastic windows are ‘maintenance free’ is untrue. Frequent problems include:

Generally one Ventrolla craftsman can overhaul, repair and install the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System into one or two existing sliding sash windows per day.
- Unless decayed or damaged the box frames are left intact.
- Replaced joinery or repairs will be primed and will therefore require painting.
- If sashes have been painted shut and internal beading painted, some chipping of paint may occur when sashes are released.
- Possibility of some scuffing of fine paint finishes during handling.
- If cills require replacement, some replastering may be necessary.
Whilst Ventrolla do not include for painting
- The Ventrolla Sash Removal System allows that windows can be easily dismantled and painted from inside the room.
- Details of simple instructions for this process are always provided.
During the renovation process, inevitably there will be some disruption due to noise, dust and openings to the elements.
However our craftsmen are trained to take great care over cleanliness, ensuring the absolute minimum of disruption and inconvenience.

- Dustsheets and dust extraction equipment will be used during any planing or routing processes.
- Automatic tidying and vacuuming of each room after completion of windows is routine.
