Ventrolla upgrades windows of Bedford Lodge Hotel in Newmarket

Leading sash window renovation specialists, Ventrolla, have recently completed another prestigious commercial contract, having upgraded the traditional windows of Bedford Lodge Hotel. This exclusive hotel, with interesting historic roots, is based in the popular racing town of Newmarket.
Originally built in the 18th century as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Bedford, Bedford Lodge Hotel has undergone a major £2m refurbishment programme. Its most recent phase has involved the refurbishment of the executive suites, situated in the Lodge itself, to a high quality design by London based interior designers Fox Linton Associates. As part of the project, which aims to conserve the traditional style of the period building, Ventrolla East Anglia was called upon to provide its expertise in retaining and improving the original sash windows. In addition to completely renovating the windows, Ventrolla has created significant improvements in their performance.
Paul Abbott of FPD Savills Architects, acting as Project Manager for Bedford Lodge Hotel, explained that, “as a period building, replacement windows were out of the question and secondary glazing was rejected as too unsightly and expensive”. He added that both FPD Savills and the client had anticipated that acoustic improvements might be brought about by the introduction of Ventrolla’s Perimeter Sealing System into the existing window. Noise is an important consideration on this project, as rooms at the rear of the lodge overlook a service yard.
The new luxury executive suites were completed in April 2004, giving visitors the opportunity to experience first-hand the improvements brought about by Ventrolla’s window upgrade.
As part of the UK’s leading national sash window specialist, Ventrolla East Anglia, which carried out the work to upgrade the windows at Bedford Lodge Hotel, have extensive experience in both the commercial and domestic sectors.
