Ventrolla North East & North Yorkshire were brought in by construction company, Newton Moor to assist in the conversion of The Athenaeum building – a former nightclub in Sunderland. In a project lasting 10 months, Ventrolla renovated and installed 82 windows in total, of which 76 were sash and six were casement. The work formed part of a project specified by Sunderland Housing Corporation, to convert this listed building into flats.
Work carried out:
• Ventrolla's Wood Repair System VR90 was used to carry out repairs and fix scarfed in timber.
• All sashes were eased, adjusted as necessary and balanced.
• New sash cords were fitted and pulleys and hinges serviced.
• Windows were fully draughtproofed using Ventrolla's unique Perimeter Sealing System.
• Sash windows were fitted with the Ventrolla Sash Removal System, which allows quick and easy removal of sashes internally for future maintenance.
• Cills which were beyond repair were replaced.
• Faithfully reproduced original delicate glazing bars to replace damaged sections
• Solid brass catches, sash lifts and security stops were fitted.
• Windows were stripped of paint, primed and refitted.
