When the old Grade II listed fish building in Smithfield, Manchester was being re-developed into apartments, Ventrolla’s expertise in sash window renovation was required to rejuvenate the existing 42 sash windows. Working alongside design and build contractor, Eric Wright Ltd, an additional six original curved casement windows were brought back to life, including the replacement of some of the glass where needed.

Work carried out:

• Ventrolla’s Wood Repair System VR90 was used to carry out repairs and fix in scarfed timber.

• New sash cords were fitted and sashes re-hung.

• Damaged glass was removed and sashes re-glazed where necessary.

• Cills which were beyond repair were replaced.

• All sashes were eased, adjusted as necessary and balanced.

• Windows were fully draught-proofed using Ventrolla’s unique Perimeter Sealing System.

• Centre catches, sash lifts and sash stops were fitted.
