French Link - Ventrolla renovates and upgrades windows of two prestigious French establishments

This prestigious project, which involved the refurbishment and upgrading of seven tall double sash windows, was awarded to Ventrolla following their successful work on the Institut Francais, the French Language School in South Kensington.

Ventrolla’s work at the Institut Francais was singled out for particular praise, as the introduction of Ventrolla’s award-winning Perimeter Sealing System had negated the requirement for secondary glazing. This previously was thought to be a necessity, to eliminate excessive noise experienced at the language school, which is located in a stucco building in the South Kensington conservation area.

Richard Birchall, the chartered surveyor who supervised the project at the Institut Francais, described how acoustic consultants, Hann Tucker had measured the noise levels experienced at the language school, both before and after Ventrolla had upgraded the windows with their Perimeter Sealing System. “The decision had been taken to renovate the windows,” he explained, “and we believed that secondary glazing would be necessary to reduce the noise, which in this busy area of London, was above the acceptable threshold for a teaching environment.” He added: “The benefits of using Ventrolla turned out to be even better than expected. Once Ventrolla had introduced their system, Hann Tucker confirmed that the noise reduction was such that secondary glazing was no longer needed. It was an extremely positive result, both acoustically and financially, as we saved over £35,000 on the project. It completely justifies the expenditure on Ventrolla’s service.”

Ventrolla, who are the UK’s market leader in sash window renovation, have a specialist operation based in North London - Ventrolla London Commercial, which specifically caters for demand from commercial customers throughout the capital.
