Window Energy Performance
Energy performance of a window is calculated by a combination of:

Thermal conductivity (U-Value)
-
Air permeability (air-leakage rate or air change rates)

Solar Gain (g-Value)
Air permeability is a major contributor of energy loss, reducing this to a minimum provides significant energy savings, which is where Ventrolla’s Perimeter Sealing Systems can help.
Achieving Class BS 6375 - 1
The BBA (British Board of Agrément) independently tested sash windows fitted with the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System and found the system exceeds Class 3 of BS 6375 -1, which tests to 600Pa – the equivalent to winds of 71mph.
Air Permeability
Independent testing of a live project proved that installing Ventrolla's Perimeter Sealing System, within a sash window, reduced the air-permeability and hence air-change rates, by 20% down to 0.4 air-changes per hour.
Noise Reduction
Another important measurement of a window’s performance is noise reduction. Independent testing of the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System installed into a sash window, fell within the 6-10 dB(A) noise reduction range, which in acoustic terms is deemed to provide a ‘significant’ noise reduction.
Whilst the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System can provide a positive impact on noise reduction this should be viewed as an added benefit rather than as a solution to an external noise control problem.
So What Does This Mean?
Ventrolla has independently verified proof that its system improves the energy performance of windows in line with Part L of the Building Regulations. This states that properties that are Listed or fall within a Conservation Area are exempt however the window’s energy efficiency should be improved (providing the changes do not alter the character or appearance of the building). Ventrolla’s Perimeter Sealing System is therefore an ideal window solution.
