VENTROLLA PROVES A CLASS ACT
Ventrolla South Yorkshire has gone back to school in Sheffield to complete a £40,000 project.
The sash window renovation specialist was appointed by the Girls’ Day School Trust, owner of Sheffield High School, to renovate and repair 120 period windows.
The first stage of the project was to repair any damaged woodwork on the sashes. Where the damage was too extensive, Ventrolla replaced the sashes, matching the originals as closely as possible.
The next stage was to install Ventrolla’s Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) in the gap surrounding the window sashes, which improves performance and eliminates draughts and rattles.
Work on the Grade I listed building took five months due to the school still being open.
Stephen Greenhalgh, Building Surveyor for the Girls’ School Day Trust, said “We have 29 schools located across the country and have worked on three of them with Ventrolla to date."
“In Sheffield’s case a number of windows were extremely draughty, which also led to increased noise levels inside the classrooms. As a result we decided it was time to have them renovated."
“In order to minimise disruption to classes we asked Ventrolla to phase the work and in the end the majority was done during the school holidays."
“We are extremely pleased with the improved performance as well as Ventrolla’s professional service and have subsequently enlisted them to work on another of our schools in Newcastle.”
Sheffield High school was established in 1878 before moving to its current location at Rutland Park in 1887. The school has grown considerably from its original 39 girl students with now over 1,000 pupils enrolled.
Ventrolla’s Central office is based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with offices throughout the UK and Ireland, and offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows.
